As an esthetician I’ve seen it all. People using raw potatoes to try and clear their skin, trendy greens powders causing city-wide breakouts (more on that later…), and even one girl who shopped doctors to stay on Accutane for years. But the thing I’ve seen most is a total misunderstanding of how our skin works, and how we can best take care of it.
We all have the same intention — to have our best skin possible — but our needs are vastly different. The problem is that every TikTok, Reel, and clickbait-y headline would like you to believe there’s a one-size-fits-all solution, and that’s really just not the case.
Here, I want to share skincare advice with a little nuance. I’m going to be honest about what I’m trying and using and seeing in the studio. We’ll look at the pro-grade devices we’re using in the skincare studio, the small tweaks that make a big difference, and the wonder products that are giving me and my clients real results. Like in my chair, I want this to be a two-way conversation. Send me questions! Send me comments! Send me pictures of your skin!
Until then take care of yourself, wash your face, and don’t make me have to remind you to use SPF, please.
Xx,
Sofie
I wonder if you have a fungal element to this- is it itchy? Check all of your skincare AND haircare for comeodgenic ingredients as a first port of call. second: have you been wearing a hat more frequently because of summer? if so- recommend washing it in fragrance free laundry detergent. Have you tried mandelic clearing serum? this is a super gentle aha but its also formulated with panthenol and hyaluronic acid for barrier support so its much gentler than regular ahas: its also anti bacterial and if there is a fungal component to this breakout- it will help immensely XO
can you talk about textured skin/ closed comedones? (like little bumps that arent really pimples) and can you talk about post acne hyperpigmentation scars?
