Why I Made a Handbag
And why I stopped making handbags in the first place.

This may come as a surprise, but skincare is actually my second rodeo. I started my career as a designer, making clothes, accessories, and handbags for 15 years. Part of my job was traveling all over the world to source materials and visit factories, and skincare was just a personal obsession I’d study at every stop.

Toward the end of my design career, I was really focusing on handbags, and I would go to Korea four or five times a year where we produced. Every time I went, I got less excited about my day job and more excited about all of the incredible things I’d find in beauty stores. Eventually I went to esthetics school, quit my job to launch my skincare studio, and said goodbye to design. Or so I thought…

This year, at the brand, we were trying to think of a fun, unique holiday gift to offer that was a little different and unique, and I knew it had to be a bag. I started sourcing different materials and colors and finally landed on a chrome vegan leather in a ‘90s inspired shape.
The final result? The Centre Bag, named for our NYC studio address and made in vegan chrome leather. I wanted it to be something you could take to a holiday party, but also actually fill with everything you need (like skincare, hi!).
I love taking care of clients’ skin and building Sofie Pavitt Face, but it was fun to go back to my roots for a minute.
Xx
